Overview
Azure Queue Storage keeps queues in an Azure storage account at low cost. Each Aikeedo queue becomes a storage queue named with your prefix, such asaikeedo-default, created as needed. Messages are kept until they are worked; the adapter turns off Azure’s default 7-day expiry.
Configuration
1
Create a storage account
In the Azure portal, create a storage account, or use an existing one.
2
Copy the connection string
Open the storage account and go to Security + networking > Access keys. Press Show next to a connection string and copy it.A connection string with a SAS token works too. It needs the Queue service; the Service, Container and Object resource types; and the read, write, delete, list, add, create, update and process permissions.
3
Test and enable
Go to Settings → System → Queue adapters → Azure Queue Storage, paste the Connection string, turn on Status and press Save changes. Saving tests the connection first, and shows the service’s error if it fails. Then choose Azure Queue Storage on the Queue page.
Good to know
- Counts only. The Queue page shows how many jobs are waiting, as Azure reports it, approximately.
- Message size. Azure takes messages up to 64 KB. Aikeedo’s jobs are far smaller; a larger one fails with a clear error.
- Prefix. An empty prefix falls back to
aikeedo-, so workers never take messages from your other queues.
